Wolverine Trading
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had experiences with Wolverine Trading? What's the firm like? Any experience with the interview? I'd really appreciate any insight, thanks!

Thdy're recruiting at my school, too.
very well respected, tier 1 shop
They don't recruit at my school (East Coast) so I don't know a ton about them, but I have an interview soon. Seems like a pretty cool place.
there recruiting at my school in NY for there chicago office.
I've heard several traders at competing firms refer to them as "assholes". take that for what it's worth.
lol - all traders are assholes and think everyone else is an asshole. i'd submit that culturally, wolverine is probably pretty normal for the field.
does anyone know if they started interviewing for the FT Trader position? They don't do on-campus recruiting at my east coast school and its impossible to get through to the campus recruiting guy...
I'd have to guess, I had my interview for Summer like 2 weeks ago and was told I'd be getting a decision shortly.
I believe they are done recruiting as are most firms.
I sent a resume for an assistant trader position over a month went by ... never heard a thing. Then I got an email that they received my resume and would review my credentials. Have not heard anything since... certainly not normal so far in my recruiting experience? but it does seem they are still recruiting.
hi, i'm thinking about applying to wolverine, do you happen to know the name of the contact person for recruiting? i don't think they recruit at my school. thanks so much!
are the prop firms done recruiting for interns already?

I'm a sophomore at a non-target school and have been fortunate enough to get an interview with Wolverine Trading Company for a trading internship in Chicago. I'm really excited and am really hoping I get the job. Does anybody have any experience with this firm or know more about it? Any tips or suggestions for my interview? I've read their entire website but you can only get so much from that. Any input would be appreciated.
you can tell them that you were impressed about how they survived quite well in august..tell them you suspect they leverage 1.1:1, and that that is great if a hedge fund wants to survive
:-)
Zing.

A good friend of mine is interviewing for their overnight liquidity desk, which trades everything except options. What's their general reputation like? Is compensation good? And what are the potential exit opps for such a role?
Thanks.
Exit opp depends. Is your friend coming from the trading industry and is he looking to stay within it?
Yes, he comes from trading. In terms of exit opps, he's open to trading, hedge funds, and top mba programs.
interested as well
What exactly does overnight liquidity desk mean? I was under the impression that Wolverine is primarily / only an options market making firm. To me, overnight liquidity means someone who hedges their delta and babysits positions. That is not a real trader. I would want to clarify the position, or at least have the opportunity to move into a trader role that is allowed to put on positions. Otherwise, it may be a dead-end job.
Also, nights are brutal. I've been a trader on nights for ~2 years, and I dont believe it is sustainable long term. You sacrifice a lot socially. He should be aware of this, and find out the path to move away from nights. I would think exit opportunities are almost non-existent. He could leverage that into a daytime role at wolverine maybe, possibly get into their options program.

Anyone here worked for Wolverine Trading? What is this shop like? What is the corporate culture, and what do they look for? They have a rotational program with offices in chicago.
Very good reputation. One of the larger trading shops in Chicago. Fairly young and entreprenuial culture.
I run into guys who work there all the time around town. Smart guys, but personable too.
Great place. Used to work there few years back. in that rotational program. Def a place if you get in, you would want to stay for a long time. Similar to DRW, SIG. PM me if you want specs.
