NO READIN’ OR WRITIN’ FOR BUSH

In Happier Times

As consumers seek to compensate for budgets threatened by spiraling fuel costs and the rising cost of essentials such as food, spending money on books has become of a discretionary budget areas where they are cutting costs.

Within this dismal book sale market, not a single damn publishing house is clambering to fork out a $15million book advance to George W. Bush to write a memoir, like they did for, say, Bill Clinton. Either it’s a clear sign of the declining book industry in these hard economic times, or a sign of the reading taste of the American public with the popularity of one of the most hated presidents in history who has trouble with basic grammar.

As I prepare for my self-imposed tax exile beginning with an eight-hour plane ride tomorrow, I couldn't resist adding this tidbit to the "Be Careful What You Wish For" file:

http://wcbstv.com/local/michael.bloomberg.income.2...

And so it begins. As if it didn't suck bad enough to live in NYC already.

Era of big bonuses over?

With increasing government regulation of the financial sector, which will only intensify with a democratic congress and President Obama, is the era of big bonuses offically over? Will we ever see finance guys making more than $5 million in a given year?

Sarah Palin In Happier Times

We will miss her laugh. We will miss her smile. You betcha! Don't ya know! It's all about creating jobs. We in the REAL America will miss her and her clothes. She had the Wall Street bail out plan nailed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txfqWzGMgmY

Oh, it's all about creating jobs. That's it. She will be missed from Wall Street all the way to Main Street; especially when those who speak of this globalization that we are a part of in this world.

Have you ever seen those postcards where they put people- clothes on chimps who really have no idea what's going on?

Let's all go to Russia and wave a fond goodbye to Sarah Palin!

Packaged food company Sara Lee is reporting a 15% increase in net income. In fact, in North America their retail revenue has increased 11%.

I’m sure it will continue to go up. In fact, it’s probably directly proportionate to the number of people being laid off, stopping off at the convenience store on the way home and picking up a couple dozen pound cakes to snack on while surfing the job sites and waiting for the unemployment checks to start rolling in.

While you're at it, you might want to shift some of your investments to Ben & Jerry's Icecream and elastic waistband pants. You heard it here first.

So it's the night before what is being called the most important election of our lifetime, and I was sitting here wondering what the candidates are doing on the Eve before they learn their fate. Surely they won't be sleeping much, so what do you think they're doing to keep themselves busy?

Maybe McCain is surfing for p*rn.

Maybe Obama is trying on his wife's evening gowns.

Maybe McCain is prank calling Biden.

Maybe Obama is singing "These Boots are Made for Walking" on his karaoke machine.

Maybe McCain is looking up Monica Lewinsky's number.

Maybe Obama is updating his MySpace page.

Ok, so maybe McCain IS sleeping....

Bananas are Back

We just received a new shipment of bananas into the WSO warehouse. For the last month or so we were depleted and could not issue bananas to new users (read: technical difficulties). We fired our inventory manager and I will be taking over the banana supply chain management to ensure we never go through a shortage like this again. I am pleased to report all new users will now be receiving banana points for WSO participation -- just like before.

In you are unfamiliar with our system or to see how to move up the rankings read here: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/rankings

Blackstone founder Stephen Schwarzman has expressed some contrition over his February 2007 birthday bash. The celebrity studded $3M dollar event that took place on Valentines Day, 2007, was Schwarzman's coronation as the new king of Wall Street. With the private equity wagon (temporarily) tipped over and Blackstone's stock down 75% , Schwarzman now prefers not to be held up as a symbol of 'that period of time'. After that super-sweet 60th birthday, he decided to have a much lower key 61st.

No sweat Stevy, we still love you even if you no longer throw kick-ass parties.

Great news, everyone! You now have a backup plan if you wind up on the wrong side of a pink slip over the next few months. CNN reports a steady increase in direct sales jobs, read: door to door salesmen. And the news just gets more and more exciting. These jobs, which include selling health and beauty products, and doing "home parties" to demonstrate your goods, so to speak, pay an average of a whopping $2400 a year! That's right, you read correctly! But wait....there's more! Order now and you'll get.....oh, shit. Sorry. Just practicing.

TOP WALL STREET BARTENDING SCHOOL COCKTAILS

STUART E. WINKLER SLIPPERY NIPPLE

With the market down, there’s been an increase in enrollment at New York Bartending Schools; NYBS has had an 18 percent jump in enrollment. Dealbreaker reports that laid off bankers are finding it difficult to bounce back with jobs at other firms, thus they are now seeking alternative employment in the bar industry and learning the ins-and-outs of mixing drinks.

So, what kind of drinks are former Wall Street employees mixing these days? Here’re a few of the most popular---surprisingly named after notorious out-of-control Stock Traders:

1) THE NICK LESSON HIGHBALL
Battery acid passed off as top-shelf bourbon in order to defraud bar patrons out of $1.4 billion drink price.

2) THE FRANK GRUTTADAURIA SCREWDRIVER

Praying On Wall Street Bull

Apparently that's what a few well-intentioned Christians thought when they instituted the “Day of Prayer for the World’s Economies” on Wednesday. But that whole praying and laying hands on bronze statues of bulls, wasn't that one of the reasons Moses broke the first set of 10 commandments? Apparently that stuff really pisses God off. Not this time though!
