Affinity Capital Management is a Minneapolis-based venture capital firm that invests primarily in seed and early-stage health care companies in the United States. Within health care we invest in medical device, health care service and health care information technology companies. We prefer companies with proprietary technology that have the potential to achieve and sustain leadership positions in large growing markets. Particular areas of interest include companies that:
* offer innovative product and service solutions to reduce the cost and improve the effectiveness of treating chronic diseases;
* support physicians and hospitals in improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of the care they provide to patients; and
* offer innovative, breakthrough medical technologies to address areas of unmet medical need.
While Affinity invests primarily in early-stage companies where it can work closely with its portfolio companies to support their growth, we will invest selectively in more mature companies with attractive valuations. Investment amounts depend on the stage of the company and are typically tied to achievement of milestones. Because of Affinity's hands-on approach with portfolio companies, our preference is to focus on the Upper Midwest area. As a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) we are investing only in U.S.-based companies.

While it is not our area of focus, Affinity will also selectively consider investments in technology companies outside of health care that offer high growth and enjoy significant competitive advantages in their markets. Typically, we will only invest alongside a lead venture investor with expertise in the market segment.
