Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Received the interview through OCR after submitting resume and cover letter. 1st round consisted of basic competence questions - why work at citi, why banking, tell me about yourself (have to explain how previous jobs and activities led you to applying for IBD) and walk me through valuation (DCF and relative valuation, easy). Given this was IBD, nothing asked at all about markets. Then got asked more "personality" questions - what do you like to do for fun, etc. Second interview was with an analyst who asked behavioral questions - "tell me a time when you worked with a team and there was conflict", "what motives you". Not bad as well. After these interviews had to wait a while until I received notification that I had made it to the superday. Attended it and had 5 interviews. Similar mostly to the 1st two interviews but got asked questions about my past experiences in more depth - and the nature and tasks of the role (they are especially skeptical of internships like PWM: so you need to have 3-4 points of how you added value). Got a mini-case study involving computation - but it was easy and focused on figuring out multiples given that you know certain line items. Got asked a couple of brain teasers. The interviews went by quickly and felt painless, but I was new to banking interviews at the time and didn't sufficiently separate myself from the kids at better schools, GPAs, activities, internships, etc. In retrospect, I think being relaxed and coming off well socially is probably the better approach to getting the offer than coming off as the finance guru guy. Citi is especially big on being a relaxed culture.
