Research Analyst Internship

I applied on the career service website of my college and got an email from the New York office asking me to come to the office to have my first round interview. After I had the first round interview in the morning (one on one, purely behavioral), they asked me to come back in the afternoon for a final round. It was so weird as the interviewer didn't really ask me any questions but talked a lot about the team and what he did. I heard back from them three days later saying that my application was deferred as they couldn't decide how many interns they were able to hire.
