Interview
Applied via OCR and received a couple of essay questions. Wrote my essays and waited about 1-2 weeks for a callback. That was the first phone screen, which lead to a final round over skype (since I wasn't near the office). Overall pretty easy interview process.
Interview Questions
Asked about formula for EV, FCF, and the different valuation methodologies. They also ask some weird behavioral questions like, "What is one thing you could change about your school?" which isn't a difficult question but it caught me off-guard.

They seem to have a list of questions that they run through every year (even with the same technical questions). Most of the behavioral and situational questions weren't at all very serious, but more so designed to see what kind of person you were. Overall it was a pretty easy interview in a relaxed environment.

Interview
I applied for the summer internship position through my career center website in February. After a month I received en e-mail requesting me to answer several essay questions:

1. Please provide a brief description (in your own words) of the difference between an equity mutual fund and an equity-oriented hedge fund.
2. Please provide a description of the evolution of the financial markets in the past five years (in 500 words or less) noting the causes and effects.
3. Please develop a table containing the names of the top ten independent wealth management firms in Southern California, noting assets under management for each as of the most recent date available. Please also list any sources you consulted as part of this research project.

After sending over my responses, I received another e-mail a couple weeks later asking me to sign up for an in-person interview. However, due to a conflict, we rescheduled for a phone interview instead. The phone interview consisted of two 30-45 minute interviews with two people. The first interview consisted of mainly behavioral questions such as:

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Tell me about a time when you demonstrated leadership.
Walk me through your resume.
Why do you want to intern at our firm?
Why investment banking?

The second interview consisted of technical questions such as:

What is enterprise value?
Walk me through a DCF.
How does a depreciation of 10 affect the 3 financial statements (assume a tax rate of 40%)?

After the interview, there was time for me to ask any questions I had. Overall, the interview was straight forward and there weren't a lot of difficult or tricky questions. My advice would be to prepare for basic behavioral questions and technical questions from the various interview guides out there and you should be fine.
Interview Questions
If you could change something about the world, what would you change? This change does not have to necessarily be related to business or economics.
Tell me about a time when you were working in a group setting and conflict arose. How did you go about resolving this conflict?

Interview
First submitted my resume on OCR around February 2009, but didn't receive any correspondence until early late March/early April. They sent a form to fill out that had a few questions such as: "Explain what happened during the financial crisis of 2007/08," as well as "Name the top 10 wealth management firms (the industry that they mainly cover) in Southern California". After submitting that they contacted me around the end of April to come into their office for an interview. The format was back-to-back 1 on 1 interviews with an analyst and a VP. Took about 30 minutes each asking basic resume questions, a few behavioral questions about working in teams, and then the typical technical (how do you do a DCF) questions. Overall the interviews were pretty standard, but your answers for behavioral questions will really set you apart. Ultimately, I think I did not receive an offer because I lacked the technical knowledge at the time, which was more than obvious when I spoke with the VP. Additionally I showed up a bit late due to traffic, so I would imagine that didn't really help.

The firm is small, only 3 guys, but they complete a lot of pretty big deals. Considering their small size, they have a lot of interns, 8 in the last 3 years. I emailed recruiters cover letter and resume. Told if I'd like to move forward, to answer a number of questions (see interview questions section). Supposedly the top answers, would move forward for interviews, and after that, the follow candidates would be chosen.
