Freshman and Sophomore Sales and Trading

I don't think I would've gotten the interview if it weren't for the support of a key finance professor at school (ex GS MD Fixed Income). There were several rounds of interviews, first few over the phone, and then superday in NY. Though the program was for trading, I did have a banker conduct a phone interview (associate - alternative energy) and he asked classic banking questions. I had to walk through DCF, explain EV, etc. I wouldn't go as far as to say that you should prep thoroughly for this, but you should be able to talk somewhat comfortably about elementary financial accounting. I study mechanical engineering, so was always asked about that. The guys that interviewed were in pretty diverse positions: they included ED Fixed Income Sales, MD Precious Metals Trading, Alternative Energy Associate, and a few more. Most were fine with the interviews going over. (Two of mine went up to 45 minutes)
