Am I working in a good direction for FI AM?

At some point I hope to be a manager for a fund. I don't care if it's within a BB or an independent AM firm, but I do want to pursue the industry via FI route. Traditional AM would be preferable

My current situation:
Finishing up an MBA at Southern Methodist Univ
Signed on for a commercial banking rotational w/ a regional

Planning to:
Go after my CFA immediately after I graduate

Potential FI AM routes:

1) Ratings agency, possibly for a managed investment group or corporate credit ratings group then to an AM shop
-or-
2) If lucky, network my bones dry until i land a gig

My questions:
1) Is this reasonable?
2) What other routes?
3) Any resources that covers the FI AM lifestyle like career vault?

This looks to be the exact type of work I would be into, and I'm looking for anyway to get into the industry even if it's a small shop.

Re: Question 3. This is not specifically FI, this one covers AM more broadly. Mine is an European edition, Vault Career Guide to Investment Management: The Insider Scoop on Investment Management Careers, supported by Baillie Gifford, Fidelity, M&G and Schroders. You know Fidelity. The other 3 are quite big in the UK.

thanks, I just got it

How is the job search? In the UK, we have got this thing called Citywire. This one publishes the league tables of top performing funds and their managers. It's really a cool league table. Check out UBS long dated corporate bond UK Plus.

I am in a similar situation. It's quite tough to get in AM. Although I am a freshgrad, so I am applying for trainee positions.

Just started. Taking advantage of my OCR for now, but nothing solid yet. Thanks for the heads up on Citywire too. I've been looking for other metrics to identify potential companies. Yea, I hear it's a pretty exclusive industry. Which programs are you looking at?
