European undergrad for MBB

Hey WSO! I'm a Europe-based high school senior looking for EU undergrad programs w/ good placement in MBB/consulting (London/Frankfurt preferred). Current picks are Bocconi, RSM, and Trinity College Dublin, with IE to a certain extent. However, I'm open to any uni suggestions with good social lives (no Switzerland pls)! Which uni do you think is the best for my goals? Thanks in advance!

All very fine universities. However, just as a stats (for London only):

  • McKinsey: on LinkedIn, looks like grads from OxBridge + LSE + UCL represent ∼35% of the people in the office
  • BCG: same 4 unis represent ∼27%
  • Bain: same 4 unis represent ∼30%

Now, that doesn't mean these are your only shots, obviously. I didn't go to any of those schools (or any ranked anywhere like them) and I'm still at Bain London. But as a pure numbers game, these would be the schools with the best pipelines / alumni network.

For Frankfurt, there's a bit more variation, with 23%, 24%, and 27%, respectively for McK / BCG / Bain, coming from one of: TUM, LMU, Mannheim, or WHU Beisheim Business School.

Again, doesn't mean you have to go there by any means, and the schools you have in mind are all very good (especially Bocconi for IT and RSM for NL), but these 8 schools are probably useful additions to your list.

Best of luck to you!

Sorry, I don't actually know any of those schools' programmes, also not sure what "BA" is. I'm just considering some stats off of LinkedIn.

If you give me some more details, I might be able to weigh in some more, but for consulting what really matters is general academic performance + displaying entrepreneurship (read, proactiveness) & leadership/excellence.

Better a top performer from political science who led a university society and worked in government than a Business/Finance/Undergrad from Oxford with a low grade who never did anything but show up to class.

I am a german working at an MBB in the Nordics and can recommend SSE or CBS for a very good social life if you want to stay in the Nordics or go back to Germany after finishing your degree (you need to be able to speak german, though).

London might be more difficult with those Unis compared to the UK G5 schools. But you should also take into account that finding a job at an MBB in London in general is much more difficult than in Germany or the Nordics and the pay in London is a lot less as well.
