I'm in Big 4 Valuation Advisory. Should I go to MBB vs IB next?
Currently an associate at Big 4 Valuation Advisory. After being promoted to senior associate hopefully in a year, I'm planning to switch careers.
My plan is to either take an MBA and go to MBB as a Consultant. OR, withhold the MBA and switch to IB. At least in my country anyway, many people from Big 4 Advisory made the jump to IB and depending on positions, don't have to start all over from analyst/associate if lucky. If I want to get into MBB and not start from the bottom again, MBA is the only way.
Now I get it that it depends on personal goal on which route should I take, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts/advice. Personally being a Consultant at MBB sounds more intriguing for me, but MBB consultants only work on CERTAIN parts of the deal... meanwhile in IB you get to be involved in the ENTIRE process of the deal and this is a valuable knowledge IF you want to make the move to PE. Which is something I've considered, and maybe for now that's I want.
I know someone from MBB who made it to to PE without the IB route, do you think this is risky?
