Reach back to interviewer after first round?
Hey guys,
Is it possible you could call back your first round interviewer to demonstrate how interested you are in the firm and would love to have a chance to work there? I was sick when I had the first round and didn't do a good job. What is the best way to tell the person over this phone this sensitive information?
Thanks alot
I wouldn't say anything about being sick, it will just sound like a poor excuse. You should always send a thank you email or hand written thank you to each person who interviewed you or you networked with. I would simply do that and mention something specific from your interview to show you remember exactly who he is.

I haven't ever heard of a call being used to say thank you. It seems too much for a first-round interview. Also, if you were off your game because of the sickness then hopefully they would have already considered that. Bringing it up at this point seems desperate.
So picking up the phone doesn't sound too good? I am extremely interested in this firm and think I really have nothing to lose. Do you guys think like explaining my situation a little bit better and showing passion for the firm help at all? Thanks, I am really desperate at this point.
I personally would advise against the phone.
It might seem like you have "nothing to lose" but I don't see much to gain by showing them how desperate you are either.
they already made up their mind whether they're going to give you a pass for being sick. calling them up won't do anything beyond pissing them off. if too much time hasn't passed already (6+ hours imo), send them a thank you email with something specific regarding the interview.
If I was your interviewer you would just annoy me with the call - I'm sure you were clear about your enthusiasm during the interview. As for being sick, that definitely sucks but there's nothing your interviewer can do. You should have postponed the interview if you were really unwell, that would not have been a problem.
