Take Graduate MBB or Wait for IB?
Hi guys,
So I initially wanted to do IBD summer and (hopefully) eventually make a switch to an investments-type role (AM/HF maybe PE).
However, the I have yet to secure an IBD summer internship but recently got an offer for a graduate MBB role. My question is, if my plan is to go into AM/HF/PE down the line, should I take this MBB role or try my luck at an IBD summer (i.e. network, start at a smaller firm)? I am just worried that the skills I build during from the consulting role may not be the most relevant, making it difficult for me to make the switch in the future.
My location preference is EU/APAC if that helps.
I am not sure if you mean post-MBA or post-UG.
You get hit up by HHs at MBB; more so if NY based; if not NY based you can still easily email them.
MBB sets you up for PE better than AM/HF.
If you want AM/HF I would recommend IB.
If you want to move to PE, get on a due diligence group. PEs value those roles.
