Turned down Big 4 and working for small boutique | My MBA odds

Hi guys,

I have recently turned down an offer from Big 4 and decided to stay with my current job. My reasons simply were

1) I am able to show strong leadership and be completely in charge of my projects. I do have some F500 clients which I hope this will help my case during MBA application process.
2) My targeted schools (Booth and Kellogg) are 20 mins drive away from my location whereas the other job is 3 hours of flying away.
3) The offered position is an entry position (fixing bugs, keeping track of issues, no client facing). And it comes with greater possibility of long bench time which can result in getting laid off.

However, as I am reading some more admitted MBA profiles, I am starting to question my decision making ability. Brand name companies or schools are everywhere (if it's not the brand name company, it's the school). Looking at my plate which has state uni for both undergrad and grad (stem field), not very impressive GPA (3.4), and 2 years at an unknown boutique, I am getting very discouraged. The only cards that I have are my work responsibilities and a potentially good gmat score.

At this point, I think it would be helpful if I can gather others' suggestions and have another evaluation of my current state. With the assumption of 725 score: What are my chances of getting into the targeted programs? What else can I do to better my profile?

Well brand name definitely counts but IMO the impact you have counts much more. Since you said that you already have an opportunity to lead projects with F500 clients - that itself is awesome. Work hard and smart to deliver great impact, get shiny recs and you're in Booth/Kellogg
