Corporate Development Interview Help
Hi all, I am currently interested in applying for corp dev / strategy roles and was wondering if anyone could provide some insight into what their recruiting process was like.
In particular, one of the roles I am currently in early stages of speaking with is a mid-market PE backed firm that is hiring an analyst. Some of the areas I'd be especially interested in hearing about are the types of case studies you went through in the process (i.e. LBO/DCF?). Would also like to hear if anyone has any tips they could provide to prepare for corp development interviews.
Brief background for myself: Currently working at a LMM IB firm in a T2 city and have been here for over a year. The industry coverage we work with are completely different from the firm I am applying too.
Thanks in advance!

I would also recommend you read the overview provided on Mergers and Inquisitions about Corp Dev.
My recruiting process was sporadic since CD is one of the more random roles to comes across given there is not a typically timeframe for when these roles open up. When looking for CD roles, I ended up using job search platforms such as LinkedIn and Indeed.com. As for preparing for the interview, I would research as much public information about the company available, including reading 10-ks and any recent news articles. For a private company, I would look a bit more into the firm's strategy in terms of portfolio composition and see if you can try to gauge some direction for where they may be looking for acquisition opportunities. Try to speak to industry trends if a particular industry as you tie it your stated interest in role and the firm.
I did have to do a model test (three statement model) for one of the CD roles I had, plus interviews with everyone on the team which lead to the process unfolding over a few months. Interestingly, for my current CD role, there was no model test and just one set of interviews with the team. The caveat is that I did have years of experience from previously working in CD. CD interviews can be a bit scattershot when it comes to modeling test and case studies.
Anyway, hope that helps a baseline guide
