Typical All-In Comp For Post-IB Strategic Finance Role
Hey all -
Got an offer from a company (later stage Series F-G) and wanted to see if people have any thoughts on the all-in comp they offered. For context, I am an Associate at a mid-tier BB coverage group. All-in annual comp (based on current valuation) base+equity comes out to about $220k - obviously, some upside if the company raises another round or goes public. I know it's a slight cut - especially with the recent pay bumps in banking, but given that my life will probably be extremely less stressful, I was wondering if there is a solid offer?
Is this in NYC?
SF Bay Area
What is the split between base and equity? Also, are you coming in at a manager level or senior associate level? I'd imagine manager level the base is ~150k?
To echo the above poster - what's the base/equity split?
At 4 years of experience I had offers of $125 - $140K base + $100K - $150K equity for Bay Area start ups of similar stage.
Other things for you to consider:
Dang that was 100-150k equity annually?
The quoted $100-150k was just the one time offer for joining. But equity refreshes annually based on all those things I listed: $25K annual company-wide refresh, performance-based refresh up to 100% of salary (but you would need to be an absolute killer to get the max amount), and another $50K-$100K refresh for getting promoted depending on the level.
Does that equity refresh annually or is it one time?
Base $150 rest is equity. Coming on at assoc level not manager.
What stage of funding?

Copying from an old comment I made:
Opus has some good resources - 2020 unfortunately doesn't break out by location but 2019 (Google Drive link) does:

Here is another data point for a fintech company (which was higher than I anticipated):
Is the $50-75k equity awarded annually and vests over four years?
Edit, to clarify I believe the $50-$75k equity is upfront that vests over four to five years. But has yearly refreshers.
Was this when you were an IB VP?
Yes, but I had also done a stint in Corp Dev prior to going into banking.
