Are Equity Research Analysts' Forecasts Trustworthy?
Since sometimes a consensus estimate of projected revenues/earnings forecasted by equity analysts that cover the stock is keeping the analysts anonymous (like on Yahoo Finance, if I am not wrong), what guarantees that the estimate is trustworthy or that the analysts are not giving false forecasts deliberately e.g. to push a stock's performance due to conflict of interest?
It's anonymous to you because you don't have institutional access. Bloomberg / FactSet / VisibleAlpha shows you which analyst has what estimate for a name (if you subscribe to that firm's equity research).
Whether they are trustworthy or not, it's your job as the investor to figure it out.
