Is this volume of corrections normal or am I just dumb?

Interning in ER at a boutique. I'm from a humanities background so my learning curve is steep but I'm committed. Pretty much every single project I've done so far has been met with my analyst telling me to go back and implement fixes. I really do put a lot of work into these models and sanity check as much as I can, but as it's the first time I've done it I'm a bit shaky. Analyst is very nice about it, but I don't want to come off as stupid and try to sanity check things as much as I can. Is this normal for an intern?

Depends on whether it's an accuracy issue or cosmetic / preference issue. The latter is fine. Former not as much.

No one cares what background you came from or how much work you put it into it. That's the great / dark part about the research profession: attitude don't make money (not saying one should have bad attitude, it's more that's bare minimum) - insights / outputs do.

My analyst has been setting me challenging projects he “doesn’t expect me to get right” (in a non-condescending way). Obviously, I’d love to prove him wrong but thus far I’ve always had a couple corrections :/ Always spending longer evenings in the office to learn though!!

Being given challenging projects is a good sign.

I recommend having a mistake log, so at least you don't make the same mistake twice and are showing signs of growth. On your own, pick up a trick or two everyday on the technicals, you should be doing great.
