If a person gets laid off after a bad performance review in Equity Research, does that mean they could have the opportunity to work in another division of the company or do people usually just get the boot? An analyst on another team who was laid off for performance says people can internally transfer post layoffs but I don't know, any one have any thoughts or knowledge about this?

Eh idk man, ER is already kind of back office, why would they want a bottom performer to go work at a different division within the same company and create other issues there?

Yeah something like that - does that happen / has anyone seen anyone make a job change with similar circumstances? I would've just imagined people get booted and go elsewhere
