Upcoming ER Interviews

Hi everyone,

I have two upcoming ER interviews with different banks covering the financials sector. One is with two members of the team (one being the senior analyst) and the other is with the MD for the entire financials team at the bank. I am an experienced hire with around 2 years of experience, although not in a sell-side capacity. Is there anything that I should know for these interviews, any questions I may specifically be asked, or maybe anything specific to the financials sector that I may be tested on?

Both interviews are my first interview, so I'm not sure what to expect, especially because I'm meeting the main analyst for both. Any clarity on questions/concepts/amount of pitches/rounds to expect/types of interview rounds that I would have would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It will be a combination of behavioral (why ER, why not buy-side, what's your story, etc.), technical (accounting and valuation), and stock pitch

No idea how many rounds, analyst decides how many rounds. Usually when you eventually interview with the director of research, things are going well.

If you have background in financials, expect industry trend discussions if you know what you are talking about.

I had the unluck of interviewing with the insurance analyst and I used to be an actuary, but good thing he told the other interview after I got the job that I know what I am talking about (insurance).

Good luck.

Thanks for the insight Dick, will keep all of this in mind. The first interview is with two different members of the team back to back, do you think they'd both ask for a pitch? And if so, would it be bad to give the same pitch twice?
