Houndstooth/Check Suits for Incoming Analyst?
Hey monkeys,
Starting in July at a buy-side shop as a first-year analyst. I have a basic navy suit already but I got a SuitSupply gift card for Christmas so looking to get another. I know I should probably just get a plain charcoal suit, but that's just so fucking boring. I was thinking of getting something like this:
- https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/suits/mid-grey-check-lazio-suit/P6039MI.html
Would I be able to wear either of these in the office as a first-year? Since it is a buy-side gig I'm hoping that it's a little less conservative than something like IB. Lemme know what u guys think
bump
If you bring the monkey and organ grinder, absolutely!
Otherwise, just keep it basic until people recognize you for your work, not your silly fashion choices.
I would get the basics first or buy some pieces with a lot of flexibility to them. The goal is to have as many pieces of clothing be wearable with each other as possible as it reduces the total amount needed.
Get the boring grey suit
Ok OP here, getting the sense that I absolutely should not wear these in-office. Thoughts on getting one of these as a wedding/casual suit, and wearing my plain navy suit for the minimal amount of times I'll have to wear a suit to the office? Or should I really have multiple suits?
(To give more color, I'll be working at a large AM as a credit analyst)
Two is one, one is none. Nothing wrong with getting another suit in case something tears or gets dirty.
I would advise you to get a plain gray is you only have 2 suits - people won't notice that you only have 2. If it "stands out" too much, they will know you often wear the same suit.
