I have a Zoom interview with a second year MBA student tomorrow. What should I wear? I was thinking a button-down. I feel like a sports coat my be over the top for a virtual interview with a student, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends on the school. I would ask a current student or someone affiliated with the school. Better to be safe than sorry and wear a full suit as if you were interviewing on campus or with an alumni off-campus.

This is an outdated thread--but assuming this was an actual interview, you should definitely wear a jacket and tie.
There is one thing that nobody's thinking about: Is he the interviewer or interviewee? Given that he's asking, I would normally say that it's a safe bet that he's the interviewee, but why would a second year MBA student be interviewing anybody? They should be out there interviewing all they can trying to get a job.
If the interviewee, I'd definitely wear a buttondown and a blazer. The tie is optional, since 'suit, no tie' is the de-facto uniform a lot of places.
If the interviewer, almost anything goes. I wouldn't wear an "I
