MBA Interview

I have a Zoom interview with a second year MBA student tomorrow. What should I wear? I was thinking a button-down. I feel like a sports coat my be over the top for a virtual interview with a student, but correct me if I'm wrong.

just kidding wear a button down and pants are optional depending on how your camera is set up

Depends on the school. I would ask a current student or someone affiliated with the school. Better to be safe than sorry and wear a full suit as if you were interviewing on campus or with an alumni off-campus.

Progress is impossible without change...

"DayMan247" This is an outdated thread--but assuming this was an actual interview, you should definitely wear a jacket and tie.

There is one thing that nobody's thinking about: Is he the interviewer or interviewee? Given that he's asking, I would normally say that it's a safe bet that he's the interviewee, but why would a second year MBA student be interviewing anybody? They should be out there interviewing all they can trying to get a job.

If the interviewee, I'd definitely wear a buttondown and a blazer. The tie is optional, since 'suit, no tie' is the de-facto uniform a lot of places.

If the interviewer, almost anything goes. I wouldn't wear an "I 3 BOOBIES" t-shirt, but you are in the position of power. I've interviewed potential interns while wearing a golf polo before.

Also, in either case wear some sort of pants. Accidentally standing up and flashing your junk at the other party is almost certainly going to be a dealbreaker.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
