Pinstripe is still relevant. Not a lot people can pull it off that’s why it is rare. If you want to wear pinstripe. Means you have your game at 💯 or you better get it 💯. Or risk looking like a pimp/WoWS wannabe/London bois.

In my view - pinstripe is really dressed up so you will either look like an idiot if wearing it with a shirt & Tie, or you need to dress it down a bit which is innapropriate for business. In addition to the tough to wear as just described you need a perfect fit else you will look really out of shape / drowning in the suit.

So all in it's not only tough to wear and style but it's also tough to have a "good" one.

I think the pinstripe suit is very hard to pull off, and it's not for a junior banker. If you really want something that is patterned, I'd look for weak patterns/micropatterns if you want something that stands out a little more.

In my opinion, you can get a lot of variation by having suits of different wool quality, such as a range of 110s-130s, which have different feels. A patterned suit should be for your fourth or fifth suit, and I would suggest sticking to a more conservative wardrobe during your analyst years.

I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.

Yeah I've seen the classic pinstripe but it was on senior bankers who grew up in the Drexel/DLJ/Shearson firms. For some reason they always stuck to that boxy suit with a pajama look.

All the newer MDs are more about the nice cleaner suits with no special stripes or stitching on the lapels.
