Proper Heel Size For An Interview

Can you kindly suggest if the heels on the Cole Haan shoe below link are too high for an investment banking interview?

3.5 inch heels appropriate for interviews

Generally speaking, our users shared that heels height is appropriate from 2 - 3 inches with 3.5 inches pushing what is considered to be okay. Flats are also acceptable. Our users explained below:

venturecapitalista - Venture Capital Analyst:
Rule of thumb I use is 3" max. 2" to play safe, especially if wearing a skirt. 3" is probably fine if you're wearing pants but not a skirt. If it looks distracting to you, it DEFINITELY is to others.

Generally if you could wear the shoes on a "dress to impress" first date, don't wear them to a fucking bank! It's conservative culturally!

I wear a couple Cole Haan shoes generally in the 2.5" range for formal business meetings. I would avoid flats unless you are very tall-- I'm 5'8 and I think flats don't look formal enough for most outings, and definitely not for interviews.

I wear flats everyday in the office but for formal outings it just doesn't look flashy enough. Especially for shorter women, heels elongate the leg and make the whole suit look much more polished.

Most important of all is making sure you can walk confidently and comfortably.

Annie_finance:
I would have to pass the Cole Haan pump with the 3.5" heels and go for the 2.5" heels instead.

You can see an example of acceptable work shoes below.

Plus there is nothing like the smart click of a heel across a floor. Nothing.

I HATE the click clack of the shoes on the floor. I soft-step on floors if it echoes. And if you are in a smaller office most guys hate it too - distracting honestly.

Also, how can you sneak up on your coworkers to catch them goofing off if they hear you coming?

Thank you so much for your advice, venturecapitalista.

I would have to pass the Cole Haan pump with the 3.5" heels and go for the 2.5" heels instead. I am 5'4 and I wish I can wear the 3.5".

Again, I appreciate your help.

Really? I love the click of shoes on pavement and so on.. although in an office, I could see that getting tiresome. If I worked in a non-carpeted office, I'd never wear heels. Definitely a good point about office etiquette.

One of my old bosses had a very distinctive pair of shoes, one of which would creak. When he walked around the office I could always hear him, drove me nuts! :)

hahaha nice comment above my comment.... I think if I go for the interview I want to wear 3.5 inch heel by the way personally I prefer flat shoes because it's comfortable and easy to walk and I don't like heels sound its sound attract to the others..........
