analyst pay scale

i read this somewhere on Oasis forums.

Investment Banking Analyst: $77,000
Private Equity Analyst: $89,000
Venture Capital Analyst: $100,000
Equity Research Analyst: $88,000
Hedge Fund Analyst: $150,000

why are there such sharp differences between the pay amounts? what makes each position more valuable than the other?
