Best Hedge Fund strategies for career Progression?

Curious if anyone had thoughts on the following strategies: L/S vs Event Driven vs Global Macro vs Activist.

Would be helpful to comment on the following: amount of bottoms-up analyses used, transferability of IB coverage skills, career progression between SM and MM, most intellectually stimulating work. 

 

Because of the ability to invest in several different security types? Attention to large-scale events and their impacts on the country-wide level?
