Hedge fund vs prop trading quants

What's the difference in day-to-day life in a quant hedge fund like 2sigma or DE Shaw compared to a prop trading firm like Jane Street or Hudson River Trading?

From what I've heard, prop traders are more HFT oriented and use strategies that work for a lower AUM
