Is every speaker at VIC a BSD?

VIC = Value Investor Congress

Trying to do some additional research on a BS job I'm applying for with a PM who has spoken at VIC.

How prestigious is this? I know the top brass speaks there but I don't want to extrapolate based on that fact alone.

Many are up-and-coming or mid-size funds; not everyone who speaks is a PM/head fund either.

Any event like this can be a mixed bag (The Ira Sohn dinner being a possible exception). Important people at big funds have to be judicious with their time and careful tactically about sharing ideas, while the people who are most eager to attend/speak are often tier-2 or emerging managers who are hungry for the exposure. Same goes for things like being on CNBC etc-guys like Ackman and Einhorn will go on, but Whitney Tilson logs a lot more time. Other funds are studiously private/under the radar.

Thanks.

I would say that these guys are more in the up & comer category. They're doubled assets in the last 3-years but still definitely not a name most on here would know of.

BCP = Buckley Capital?

Haven't heard of them until I just googled it now. Looks like they've had some exception performance since 2007.

I posit that being a place most people here would know is at best loosely correlated with being a good opportunity for a relatively junior person.
