My brother in christ have you been living under a rock? Modafinil is mass-produced in India and exported to the entire world, it's not considered a regulated substance like amphetamines.

Modafinil + L-theanine + coffee in the morning is the shit.

Most Helpful

200mg of Modafinil and 400mg of L-theanine in the morning. If I know I'm going to work very late and that I'm tired I take an additional 100mg of Modafinil around 8pm. During an all-nighter or when running on very little sleep, it's also possible to put 50-100mg just under your tongue to do a sublingual administration - Modafinil is absorbed much faster that way and with a higher bioavailability, and you get a stronger effect. Being able to withstand the bitter taste requires some training though.

Been taking Modafinil every day since 3+ years - the effect has weakened but I can still very much feel it and it still helps a lot in terms of wakefulness and ability to focus.

I got a prescription last year. It's been a big help for me. I had been struggling with severe sleeping problems for over two years, and after none of the tricks nor meds helped, I found out that modafinil can help with tiredness without the addictiveness of amphetamines/methylphenidate. Funnily enough, the simple thought of knowing that I have modafinil in my backpocket for the next day has helped me sleep a lot better.

In terms of performance enhancement, it's helpful like an extended release caffeine pill would be but not at the same level of traditional stims. You build up a tolerance to it pretty quickly so it should be taken a few times a week max, unless you suffer from narcolepsy or a similar condition that necessitates chronic use.

I haven’t tried these, so not best positioned to comment, but there’s a bunch of Reddit threads on Moda vs Adderall that provide a good overview. Seems like many describe as less intense, maybe less noticeable, but with strong impact on focus, mental clarity and speed, and just being able to stay awake (as well as general mood boost). It’s also not really addictive, given there’s limited/no withdrawal.

Prescription meth is so 2015.

I cannot sleep with modafinil. I'll take a little at 7am and I can't fall asleep until 3am that night.

Personally: good for focus/brain dead work, TERRIBLE for complex/creative problem solving and communication skills.

Feels weird like I can’t pull the thoughts I need to out of the back of my brain.

And then it’s also harder to communicate these thoughts i.e. to think and speak at the same time about a complex problem. If I have to think really hard about a problem and come up with a creative solution modafinil is ruins my ability to do.

Not sure if that is a widespread thing.
