Any first gens feeling FOMO from all of this diversity recruiting?

It’s so sad to see firms strive for “diversity of thought” when all of kids with true grit are those who are first generation or low income

Kids who grew up in poverty, navigated through higher education by themselves and made sacrifices just how their parents made sacrifices coming to the United States without understanding or knowing how to speak English

I felt this so hard. I actually just got a diversity offer from Evercore today, but I can’t help but feel that I don’t deserve it knowing I was basically spoon fed my entire life. It honestly starts to feel like these firms just want me to help them look good in front of their clients, rather than them actually wanting me because I can provide a unique thoughts

For 100th time, diversity is for PR. Banks only care about their clients, who sometimes make the bank pitch with a girl or urm.

If banks only cared about taking the best talent, then they don’t need to look outside of the ivy league to fill their classes. Orm fgli kids just need to work/network harder, sad truth but its just reality.

LOL nice try fanboy try to remember that "true grit" and diversity are not mutually exclusive. There are plenty of well-off kids, diversity or not, who were raised with the same/similar respectable values that you see from first gen families

and please get a life:

Lmao this is a logical fallacy. There are more kids that are well off and don’t have those qualities than those who do.

As an asian male, I disagree with this post. Grit is not mutually exclusive with being first generation and or low income.
