Anyone go to the gym while working in IB?

I've noticed myself getting slightly heavier after months of sitting and working for long hours. I am wondering if anyone goes to the gym, say after 7pm for 30mins to an hour, then gets back to working? Or do you only have time to work out on the weekends?
Thank you

My golden rule has always been do something every day. Even if you can only get 30 mins after work (try to go before work as you will almsot always be tired and try to talk yourself out of it), get a workout in during lunch if you get a lunch away from your desk, bike to work etc. You will be tired and probably stressed trying to fit in a workout but it has incredible benefits mentally and physically and will actually give you a lot more energy at work once you get into the swing of things.

Yeah. Im in a sweaty group and am able to workout at least 4 days a week. I never go in the mornings because I’m not good at getting out of bed before 8am. Usually go around 6:30pm when folks are transitioning home or 10pm after getting something sent out. Caveat though that my workout is interrupted maybe once every two weeks where I have to run back to the locker room and send something out or update something. Personally I’d rather workout on company time than on my time (e.g. before 9am)

Similar to the above commenters. I'm a second year analyst and I try to go to the gym at least 4 times a week. 6 times during a light week. I have gone in the morning depending on what my schedule looks like for the week, but I generally target sometime around 6 or 7pm then come back to the office after. Plenty of days this is obviously not possible, so those weeks I try and go both days on the weekend. As a former college varsity athlete it's like something I have to do or my brain doesn't function.

over summer my group was pretty supportive of it. would maybe even say it was encouraged if your work product was still good, but i know some other groups at the bank wouldn’t have liked it. For us, it was totally fine to go at like 7 for an hour or 90 mins, just had to be alert bc it got interrupted 1-2 times a week. Still better than nothing though

It really helps you survive IB to do something active every day, even if that's running a mile for ~8 minutes. Currently at a MM that's known for working hard and always get some downtime around 6-8 PM. I'll lift 4 days a week and try to do cardio for the rest, some days being a longer session (~30 min), some being a quick mile. Leverage your "free time" on weekends to get in exercise - your body will thank you.

Hit the gym 6 days a week, balanced mix of mostly weight lifting days with a couple cardio days. Use my weekday where I’m most exhausted as my rest day (there’s always 1 and never more than 1). For me it’s not an optional or nice to have thing, it’s a requirement. I need to get exercise almost every day a week in order to stay healthy, stay alive, and produce high quality work over the long-run aka a 40+ year career. Remember people our stressful lives and long work hours sitting in a chair staring at a screen only INCREASE our need for exercise compared to the normal person. Being stationary increases your risk of probably every illness and disease known to man and some unknown.

You’re a human being, you need water, food, air, and movement to survive. Getting 5-6 hours of exercise and movement a week is not optional; browsing the internet, watching sports, texting your friends, watching Netflix, going out with that girl that texts you when when she’s bored, anime, drinking, smoking pot, Twitter, video games, YouTube, and WSO are all optional. Make sure you’re eliminating all of the above before you think of cutting out exercise. Those of you who skip fitness for this job, just realize you are sacrificing your life for a company that does not and will never care about you.

2YA and after my last bonus I’ll deadass go at lunch for two hours and not care. During my first year I went 4x a week now at 6/7 enjoying my life a lot more since I put myself first before my bank

FML,  I need 2 hours of exercise at minimum a day to keep my shape

I've actually been getting really skinny, and I feel embarrassed. Should have seen me before I started my stint, god damn ripped

Hire a trainer, food is always more important. I pay $500 a month for mine (pretty steep) but the results have been so good. Measuring your food has helped sm.
