Anyone have a thesaurus for bullshit terms used in finance?
So we've all had the issue when writing pitchbooks / CIMs / memos where we find ourselves hard pressed not to use the same stupid adjective more than once within the same sentence / page / section, and I personally often find myself with 20 tabs open with google searches for "good thesaurus" or "strong thesaurus" or "robust thesaurus" or "nice ways to say not so good"
I have realised that spending more time reading sell side equity research helps with broadening the vocabulary available in your tool kit, but is there a list of ways to phrase certain specific things more goodly or downplay how awful they are?
e.g.:
shitty financial performance -> "soft start to Q1"
bunch of small shitty companies -> "highly fragmented sector, ripe for consolidation"
cheap-ass borderline fee-less deal that the bank will probably lose money on -> "strong opportunity for the Bank to develop relationship with the client and position ourselves for highly-rewarding deals in the future"
