Associate not doing anything?

Quick one here, how would you handle the following:

Working on a sell-side pitch for a smaller company. I'm a newer analyst (<6 months) staffed with just an associate. Associate has not been answering my phone calls, IMs, emails, etc. I have tried to do what I can on the pitchdeck but I know it's not a standard that the MD is going to approve. Also just flat out don't know how to do some analysis/slides yet. Allegedly this is an associate who is known among the juniors as someone who "doesn't do work on pitches." I get the sense that seniors don't know this.

What is appropriate to do in this situation? I don't want to burn bridges given I'm so new, but I really need some help and guidance to get the work done. A big fear of mine is that somehow I scrape together the pitchdeck to a level where it's good enough, and then we WIN the pitch and now I'm stuck with an associate who doesn't do anything.

At the end of the day, if the deck is shit, it's the associate's fault - not yours. Just send over what you have while asking for guidance & just wait until they respond. If they aren't being responsive, it's just going to put them under pressure when the deadline approaches.

Completely agree with this. No one is going to blame the new analyst if something goes wrong.

that being said, if possible, where there are things you don’t know how to do, try to ask the analysts around you as well.

Odds are someone has a prior example they can share
