Boutique Internship - Spent a lot of time speaking with PE analysts
I interned at a small-boutique in North Carolina.
Granted it is far from having a BB or large finance company experience, but what is the best way to spin this...
Got my hands on DCF, spent a lot of time speaking with PE analysts on the phone, industry and transaction research using (EDGAR, CapIQ, D&B)
How do I make this stick out without a "brand name" attached to it?
you probably have an upper hand just for having a banking internship, most people don't
The fact that you actually did something other than bind books for presentations means that you did more than most of the average BB interns.
Absolutely agree with above post. Big banks may value your experience more than one of their interns, but could question if you really want to make the jump over. It is a very different atmosphere.
An advantage of boutique and MM over BB is the level of responsibility. Provided you're hard working and know your stuff, you'll be given more things to do besides binding books. I would stress this aspect.
