Fantasy Baseball and Banking
I've been a member of a fantasy baseball league with friends for the past few years, and they are pressuring me to make a decision on if I am going to play this year. Is it realistic at all to think I will have a few minutes of free time each day this summer to update my fantasy team?
I realize I won't be able to do hours of research or anything, but this is a pretty expensive league and I don't want to commit myself if I am not going to have any free time at all during my internship. Am I going to be working non-stop, or will I have time to messs with my team every day or so? Is this common at all, or will I look lazy or uninterested in my job if I am doing something like this for a few minutes rather than reading a trade publication, doing comps, etc.
take it from Jay Buhner, you will definitely appreciate taking a 5 minute break to update your lineup every day. It also will help give you something to talk about with your friends who probably don't want to talk about banking with you.
4th week of work and the majority of our convo is about my fantasy basketball league... The office actually has a Fantasy Baseball league starting up. Go with it, don't be afraid...
I agree with everyone here so far... fantasy baseball is a great way to recharge your batteries. When there's money involved it's usually even more competitive. It is important to maintain some hobbies that make you happy in a demanding workplace.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely want to play. I just had the impression that I would be so busy with work I wouldn't have the chance to even think about fantasy baseball, and I definitely didn't want to get caught doing it if it made me look "lazy" or whatever. The internship is obviously my #1 priority, but if I can fit in 5 minutes or so of fantasy baseball than that would be a win-win.
Sports leagues are actually pretty popular in banking and offices in general... we always have superbowl betting, for example.
Also, you WILL have downtime (which explains why people like me posting here right now :). Don't get me wrong, you probably won't have enough time for a vacation as a first year analyst or anything, but you definitely have more than few minutes each day to spend on fantasy baseball.
The market is so slow right now that you may even have hours each day to spend on it. :) Occasionally I get really busy with pitches or deal-related work but the only days where I had not even 5 minutes of free time were when I was traveling or had all-day meetings or something.
Definitely worth it and I'd sign up and play, you need to enjoy yourself even with an intense job.
sorry to hijack the thread, but what are everyone's favorite fantasy baseball websites (and I'm fine with spending money on them)? I've recently became fairly interested in fantasy sports.
Why is one baseball player grabbing the other's dick in that pic?
very affectionately i might add

You'll definitely have more than enough time, only problem is that the websites you use might be blocked.
