GS IBD Groups London

Any insights into teams in GS IBD London (both classic M&A and also financing)? Curious about culture, exit opps, experience, and any other info

Do any M&A industry groups (other than TMT) differentiate you in terms of exit opps and how do financing teams like levfin compare to classic M&A teams on these aspects?

As a hopefully helpful start, I had a friend from college go there from Wharton/UPenn. I believe at the time it was more of a generalist/super-group model at the analyst level where he was working across many comparable groups/products as compared to GS NYC people. I believe after a few years or so there (including potentially a direct promote to associate) he went on to Centerbridge PE/Distressed Credit. I hope that helps.

Not sure if it's still the case but back in my days GS London analysts / associates were pooled into 3 super groups (UK&I, rich Europe and poor Europe / MEA). You will get very generalist exposures to all sectors. London PE / HF recruitment is also much less group focused and much more bank focused so any IBD group at GS/MS/JPM will get you interviews anywhere pretty much.
