MiM or MSc vs MBA to break into banking UK

Good day monkeys,

I'm a recent business grad from a UK semi-target with a 1st class degree (4.0 GPA). I'm starting my grad job soon in M&A consulting at a big 4. The job will mostly be pre and post-deal value creation and operational work, with very little strategy work.

My eventual goal is to work in PE on the investing side.

I think my best bet is to get some IB experience first, otherwise it may be pretty hard for me to break into PE with my current job. I'm not sure I'll be able to transition to IB directly from my grad job so this leaves me with either pursuing a MiM/MSc after working for a year or doing an MBA after 4-5 years and joining as an associate.

I'd like to know how breaking into IB via the MiM/MSc route contrasts with going the MBA route in terms of difficulty and probabilities given my background. Would love to hear any other views and possible routes as well.

I'd be aiming for LBS, LSE, INSEAD.

Many thanks!
