Good question. I became a member and wanted to get access to the "groups" to have more access to jobs. I sent out a big invite to about 400 contacts, and haven't been able to log on since I sent that invite. My logon info and email address are no longer recognized. I sent them an email inquiry with no response. I have no idea whats going on, but I'm thinking they didn't like that I sent out that big of an invite. Anyone else know more about this?

I'm not a member of this site, but the whole Doostang concept makes no sense. One might think that Doostang members are better job candidates than on Monster, Careerbuilder, because candidates need to be invited.

On the other hand, members are incentivized to send out as many invites as possible, spamming every dark corner of the earth to get more members on board. This makes the average Doostang candidate no better than the average dude on the street.

Believe me, you're hurting nothing by not participating in their network.

It doesn't make better candidates. However, it does help you find targeted candidates.

For example, if i was doing a psychological study on smart college students, I would need to get in contact with them. I would probably start with Facebook with people who are listed as college students. Does that mean I think all the smart college students are on facebook? No. Does that mean a smart college student on facebook will be more likely to be a part of my study than a smart college student not on facebook? Yes.

That being said, I've received multiple interviews with boutique firms via doostang. Obviously it doesn't make sense for getting BB interviews, but it is very helpful for boutiques who use it as an active recruiting tool.

OK, I give in. I want to check it out. Can I get an invite?
