My group is full of incompetent and wealthy kids
I cannot believe out of 7 people, only 2, including myself, actually know accounting.
I'm asking one analyst to help me out filling numbers with a high-level, illustrative DCF for a pitch. He legit sent me another model I created in case I need help...
5 out of 7 people, excluding myself, are connected to my MD.
The lateral market is not that hot anymore, and it's not easy to just lateral to another bank.
The upside is the hours. I spend 2 hours doing what others take 6-8 hours to do because work is too easy for me. That also means no growth. Pay is below street/poor since deal flow is not good.
I used to think the golden days of nepotism are over.
Boy, I was wrong.
Sounds like you're at a shitty micro-boutique.
No...not Goldman or Evercore but not no-name.
Greenhill?
Sounds like Tobin
RBC
An Md is family friend, would frequently talk
about offering family members internships
he wasnt pitching, he was rich af/was very high up at RBC, my fam not business owners
Close.
Jefferies or WF?
'pays below street and no deal flow' - RBC M&A a1s making over 200k and walking around like zombies sure validates this guess.
Allen & Co?
LMAO sounds like you got a lot of people on WSO's wish to work in a non diverse team with no minorities who actually want to grind, have fun explaining the difference between an LBO and DCF model to your analyst when you're already on a live deal.
At least his coworkers can read
That was such a stupid thing to say that IB analysts who are minorities literally cannot read.
OP said it himself that most juniors at the company do not even know accounting but had the connections to know an MD so well they at least have a job.
I would be a million dollars if possible that the people OP is talking about who don't even know how to model but still have a job are the likely to be among the ones on here bitching and moaning that a black guy or woman from Harvard/MIT/Wharton "stole" their seat at GS/JPM/MS.
Hope all of you that complain about minorities see your future as this MD who's runs a nepotism based team and has no deal flow. Anyone not smart enough to see that diversity helps their business will likely not be very successful in this field.
are you mad?
I was saying that you're the one who can't read, but of course every perceived slight against you is, in some way, the effect of mythical modern-day systemic oppression. Keep crying.
Wth does diversity have to do LOL??? If anything the counter argument would be to work in a team full of ppl who got in through the most meritocratic method, and not some nepotism/diversity shortcut.
No matter how you spin it, there is 0 correlation between your race/gender/sexual orientation and working your ass off.
The OG diversity quota lol
probably not diversity kids given the description OP gave. You're lack of reading comprehension makes me think you could be one of these folks OP is referring to.
I think he's joking that back in the day diversity was to hire somebody who's not related to your family (like with these 2 out of 7 guys).
In case you weren't aware, nepotism hires in banking are as old as time. All these kids lose their minds about diversity programs tAKiNG mUH sPoT but someone's daddy or mommy makes a call and nobody bats an eye.
Maybe understand what's being said before being an asshole? I don't think my reading comprehension is the issue here.
The lateral market is that hot right now, I am getting blown up every week for EBs / MMs / BBs and I am a non target with average experience.
Edit: that comment wasnt meant to be snarky or unhelpful, if you want to PM your email address I can suggest the recruiters reaching out to me reach out to you.
Edit 2: Not sure why I am getting MS for offering to help someone?
OP here.
I got this dude whose dad legit sits on a couple of healthcare company’s board as an academic expert in that particular vertical. The only thing this analyst knows is how to beef up his biceps and race cars. He is actually both fat and…muscular ? I don’t know what his deal is man, but his dad ? Yeah I totally see why my MD pretty much invited this analyst on board.
let me guess.... pnc dcm.....
yeah, that's the life at small shops. it won't ever change.
