National vs Canaccord vs Stifel vs Raymond James (Toronto)
Can anyone comment on how they compare in the following?
- Base comp and bonus % (what it tended to be in the past)
- Deal flow
- Reputation in Canada & in US
- Analyst program years (which is 2, which is 3 if any)
- Location mobility (if any of them lets you and sponsors your move to their US offices)
Appreciate any input, thanks!
This is too much work
Hahahaha for real man. I popped in to see if I could be helpful and leaving with a "do your own work you lazy piece of shit".
How are you supposed to “do research” on this without asking people in the industry you idiot?
National if you’re staying in Toronto, Stifel or Raymond James if you’re dead set on the US
National and Canaccord are both great shops in Canada. Stifel in Canada is basically just GMP. RJ is ok, and has a similar reputation in Canada to that in the US.
They all suck in Toronto, all they do is maple syrup deals and occasionally Real Estate deals but the real estate in question is all igloos. The Senior MD of Canaccord Toronto is literally an Eskimo who rides his sleigh to work via a bunch of huskies and then throws them an Intern for lunch, which the huskies violently and bloodily tear apart on the trading floor as he screams for mercy. It's an odd group for sure.
Just FYI, our sleighs are run with moose and we blood the interns on the most dangerous Toronto animal of all time - racoons.
Haven't kept tabs on National. Very group dependent at the other firms.
.
Canaccord for sure
CanAFFORD apparently pays!
Talked to a few analysts at Canaccord - An1 last year made 200k+ all in.
Yep heard the same thing
Yeah but that was last year, with tech and cannabis being down a ton since. That's gotta change their bonus and TC.
