Need advice - breaking into IB & PE from BB credit risk

Hello all,

I'm currently a 2nd year credit risk associate from BB with solid modeling & analytics skills as well as understanding of capital markets and would like to jump to a FO role within IB or PE. I do not have much working experience in terms of corporate finance or valuation - though I've hold a master degree in finance just not sure if that helps much. Just wonder what would be a good break in point or position within IB or PE for the guys like me and what skills I should concentrate to develop?

Plus, I live in Dallas, TX and I've heard a little about PE & IB shops at local (only from internet). If any one has experience from here as well please advise some good firms. Anything will be deep appreciated!
