No early interviews. Ramifications?
I attend a semi-target university with pretty good representation in West Coast IB. I've been networking a lot these past few months, meeting people and learning about the various firms/opportunities that are available to me.
Recently, a number of my peers were invited to early interviews at firms that I'm interested in and at least felt as though I had a good connection with.
I had a seemingly good, informative phone call with two analysts from an office that I'm specifically looking at, and was surprised when the kid who was offered an early interview at the same office claimed he hadn't made any particular connections with anyone there.
Does this mean I am doing something wrong in terms of networking? I consider myself to have a pretty strong resume (the analysts I spoke with even commented on this during our phone call) and, although I'm not a crazed networking shark, I don't perceive myself doing anything wrong in this process.
What should I take away from the fact that I haven't been offered any early interviews? Is this something to be concerned about, or is it a crapshoot?
The BBs have only gone through HK SA recruiting. There are always gonna be a couple kids who get early interviews, either through networking or nepotism, but for the most part, the interviewing process hasn't started yet. OCR is all in January.
I wouldn't worry about it.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, fellow Trojan. Recruiting is a crap shoot.
