okay to flirt while networking ?
Doing some networking before starting mba. Currently talking to bankers and colg alums in banking. Is it okay to try flirting and make it more persuasive or just keep it all professional? Lol. I like women in finance.
Not a hedge fund guy but neither a mutual fund too.
Sounds like a flawless plan.
Ohh btw talking about London. NY is cool but how’s London culture ? More of saying ‘your majesty’ to every female banker? Lol
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to this. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Lol. Amen to that.
Laughing at how all you hypocrites judging me rn.. lol. Stupidity and arrogance were the pillars of financial crisis. What’s wrong fellas.
Well, if you're shooting for stupidity and arrogance, you have succeeded but unfortunately you're about a decade late to the game for the financial crisis.
I'll also have you know that OP has reportedly been admitted to the LBS MBA Class of '22...
What the actual fuck.
I swear some of you are literally brain dead.
Lol. What’s wrong? Am asking what would be the right step..
Bro you just bit so hard on a transparent troll post. I think it is you who is brain dead.
I’m fully aware it’s a troll post. I still think OP is brain dead — and likely you as well.
I would like to hire you. Please call me at 877-654-GIVE

show bob and vagene
Same it’s always been with women, if they like you it works if they don’t it’s creepy or off putting. You think they will flirt back then do it , but it’s a extra risk for sure
Only in designated flirting street
Guys here are mocking but we've all failed to realize that it is now 2020, the year India becomes a super power
Nah. Just cut to the chase. Whip it out and smack it around during the meeting. Assert dominance.
Seriously dude? REALLY? FFS
It is only ok if you call their desk line to ask them out. I mean, if it happens at work, it must be work appropriate, right?
only way to find out is to try
Rlly bruh...in 2020? Are you actively trying to get pegged by the #MeToo movement?
He's Indian. They're still going through the #BobsAndVagene movement.
As an Indian we don't claim him, we pass him off to the MENA region
Do it. Don't overuse it so no one will be envious after seeing you flirt with someone else. And don't f*** anyone even if your flirt goes very well! Just make them feel special for a glimpse. But train before, as most people in finance are not easily manipulated.
I'm a woman in finance. My thought is, I'd really keep it very professional. Doesn't mean you cannot be friendly and outgoing if that's your personality. Some women (myself included) would find it amusing - really depends on age and demeanor. Many women in finance are very sensitive about "men acting creepy" and "bad vibes," There's really no benefit to flirting in this instance - it's better to be taken seriously and viewed as a viable candidate rather than someone who potentially will be a liability to a company or make female employees uncomfortable. I mentioned a funny story about a guy flirting with me at a company party, and the women at the table were appalled and told me I should have reported him, because one day he'll be in a position of authority and may behave inappropriately towards female subordinates who are afraid of reporting him. e.g. needs to be taught a lesson. I was like, how did you get to that level over this minor story? But other female finance professionals felt it was bad form to even flirt at a social gathering of the officemates. Decades ago (yes, that old), I think it would have been taken much more lightly. But people, men and women, see sexuality in the workplace as a Risk, with a capital R. I get where you're coming from, and yes, if you are finding a womn attractive, you will already give subtle signs without actually flirting, that you find them attractive without flat out "flirting." That's really where you should draw the limit, though. To someone my age, I find it cute when a guy in his 20s is obviously giving me a "you're attractive to me" smile and says nothing more telling than that. But many women (of all ages) are extremely on guard about that and disagree with me. I recently met some female colleagues for drinks and found that attitude to be the prevalent one, that it's inappropriate/unpleasant, to have anything said, or be even given the slightest look that's flirtatious. Most women feel it does not belong in the workplace, period. I personally have been quite amused with men flirting with me at work, but again, I think I'm the exception. So I'd tread extremely lightly here. It's not worth losing a solid networking opportunity, especially because I note that women are generally extremely interested in networking and helping other professionals. There are many other better places to flirt. I would not consider flirting to be persuasive at all. I would say you run a 90% chance of the woman being turned off, or even offended.
I wish it were still 1992 and you could get away with it. I think the complete neutering of the workplace is a bit much. And I don't blame you for liking women in finance - broadly (no pun intended) speaking, they're a bright, career-motivated yet empathetic, and attractive segment of the work force. Good luck, Cowboy
Geez people blew it out of proportions so much. There is a thing that lot of men don’t know how to do healthy flirting. Exactly the reason why some men on the group despise that (coz they themselves can’t do it) and also why some women whom you discussed with were appalled . Coz they have seen men going creepy as fuck and making life hell both personally and professionally. Well here’s the thing I wrote that post after 2 cups of coffee finishing my option pricing lecture at 4 AM. Lol.
Anyways I meant healthy flirting which involves social and emotional calibration. Geez I don’t want to be the dating coach. Lol. Peace out.
Thanks a lot for your opinion @shaynepunim. Must have enlightened lots of men out here. Always delighted to root for women to make it high in the workforce. In fact I would love to date a women in finance doing well in corporate life. I hope masculinity and femininity can both reach healthy levels in the world.
lmao
“Cause they can’t flirt themselves.” Yeah okay guy from India. Show us how it’s done.
Are you flirting with me? ; )
((laughing)) - all good - most of the time, everyone gets along just fine.
