Opinions on Specialist Boutiques
I see a lot of investment banking boutique discussion being focused on EBs or no-name regional firms. I was wondering what people's opinions were about specialist firms at the top of their industry space. The names that come to mind are Leerink, FinTech, Financo, Sandler O'Neill, and GreenTech Capital.
Many of these firms recruit at the analyst level for FT and SA positions. Assuming that one wants to be a career banker in a specific industry space, are there significant benefits accrued to specialist firms compared to industry groups at large banks? Also, is MM PE or Corporate Development a viable option coming from these type of firms?
