Shoukd I forecast the quarterly model?
Hello guys, I have a questions. I build a 3 statement model and I also build a quarterly model, which is link to my 3 statement model. I forecasted 5 years ahead for my 3 statement model. I wanted to know, should I be forecasting the quarterly model as well or do I just update the quarterly model when the company put out the quarterly report?
I'll be curious to see what others say, but I've never forecast forward on a quarterly basis. I'd think it's just for a historical input, then use that latest quarter to update your TTM.
I guess any firm could have their own convention, so I don't want to mislead - any other models around you could look at to compare to?
I was thinking of doing the same thing. but it seem like forecasting quarterly would also affect my annual forecast. I might just do like you said.
remember valuation is art in addition to science
Generally yes. There’s important stuff in quarterly models that isn’t necessarily captured in annual models (e.g. seasonal working capital buildups) that can have a real impact.
