Too many internships bad?
Student at a target school incoming to a top BB. I currently have 4 internships under my belt + a term-time as I took a gap year last year after signing with my BB. The internships are all mid-high quality (1 public equity at long only, 2 private equity at UMM, and 1 term-time in MMPE)
Recently, I was told by a friend that having too many internships would look bad because it shows that I have no firm loyalty. How should I go about displaying my internships and is it bad that I will have 4-5 internships by on cycle recruiting?
Its completely fine man
Your friend is jealous or ignorant. That may be true if you bounced around FT positions every year, but its just internships. You’re fine
Not a problem - it’ll look fine, if not great, employers. Your friend is still a student, I wouldn’t take those opinions too seriously
many internships = good
many full time jobs in short amount of time = bad
Completely fine, just annoying for people applying for internships with no experience (that’s why an internship it’s for) and get rejected for having no prior internships, since they competing with dudes with 4 internships, for an internship lmao.
if they don't have what you want, don't listen to what they say
Backwards thinking in my opinion. Not every firm has a full suite of services and ideally you are trying to become a candidate with multiple skillsets and expertises. There’s nothing wrong with it, your friend is just a hater lol
Sounds like your friend is looking for an internship
