Transfer from Non-target: Ross vs UChicago vs Northwestern

Hey, guys. I'm hoping to apply as a transfer student to the above listed schools as well as others. I was curious as to what transferring is like to these schools, and how each one places into IB compared to the rest of the pack as well as each other.

So from the perspective of a realistic chance of getting into the school, Ross would be the best? UChicago's transfer acceptance rate is pretty much an automatic 'no' and NU isn't much better.

all i'm tellin ya is the order of which schools are the best for someone who wants to work in ib

it's an uphill climb transferring to top state schools like berkeley/uva/umich as well, their OOS acceptance rates are pretty much identical those similar private schools

i'd also look into transfer friendly places like usc and vandy

Ross has better placement than NU and UCHI even though it's less prestigious - there are surprisingly a good number of BB that do not recruit from UCHI.

As long as you're transferring in as a sophomore, you're going to be fine at any of these schools for IB. Ross and UChicago have better placements I think, but top Northwestern students can get into IB as well.

I saw your other post as well, and if you're not sure if you want to do IB or consulting, you're probably best off at Michigan which has amazing placements into both. Unfortunately as a transfer to any of these schools you will still have to be very tactical about what you do in order to have the stats to get interviews for IBs or consulting firms. I think it's important to consider which of the schools are more open to transfers. For example UChicago doesn't accept many transfers, so your experience may be more difficult whereas Northwestern may be a better transfer experience due to the sheer number of transfer students per year.

Thanks for the great response! I think I'm pretty secure in my desire for IB (ultimately PE), but thanks for the points on considering other opportunities. What would be the challenges of being a transfer for landing interviews? And would you say UChicago and Northwestern still have decent placement into MBB or Tier 2?
