Where Should I Begin Looking
Hello WSO community, I was hoping to get some advice on how to better prepare myself for the work headed my way.
I’m currently in the structured finance division for wholesale banking and we primarily deal with acquisition financing. I’m currently looking at a previously used leveraged finance model and even before getting into whether or not the borrower is eligible for credit, I’m confused as to what metrics would be relevant in deeming them fit or not.
Aside from maybe looking at the leverage ratio of the firm to see if they can even take on additional debt, how would the optimal level of debt that that they can take on be calculated?
With the team having a flat hierarchy, I have access to others, but I am surprised as to how little I know when it comes to loans in general, and clearly, the work required in building models for credit approval/pricing.
Any help would be much appreciated.
