Worth it to blast out emails to boutiques for winter/spring internship?

Recent graduate with masters in finance. Didn’t know I wanted to do ib until it was spring semester of final year… sucks. I don’t have an ib internship but I have a s&t internship at a bank.

Is it worth it to blast emails to boutiques to see if they would be willing to hire a winter/spring intern. Would do whatever it takes to get it? I’ve even been applying to the off cycle Europe internships. If not what are my options

If you are unemployed you should be spending most of your day sending these / looking for jobs? There is no perfect time to send these, boutiques aren't on any schedule especially if you are doing nothing right now and can start whenever. Also I get trying to break in but you should be prioritizing full time jobs above internships, even if not in IB... but don't let yourself get like 6 months out of school unemployed as you are going to have a hard time. you can always do MBA if you need to in a few years.

Also if you are NY based don't waste too much time applying to Europe internships, they are not going to relocate an American in for an internship when they have lines out the door of qualified Europeans

Thanks and yeah the anxiety is building the longer and longer I don’t have a job. Definitely want a full time role but every “entry level” posting I see, u scroll down and it says 1-3 years experience in IB. Frustrating. I don’t want to go all or nothing on this but it is what I really want.

Also could do s&t potentially then make an internal pivot in a few years. Not trying to do MBA already have a fair amount of student debt.

Wish I went to trade school

Just keep at it and fire off more emails. Internship wouldn't be the end of the world if you can convert FT. Unfortunately the market will be quiet through year end, but hopefully roles pick up in Q1.
