Recruitment consultants - what's their worth (internships)
Hi guys,
So I'm soon going to be actively searching for an IBD Summer Analyst position in 2015 in London and was wondering if I should use the services of a Recruitment consultancy, such as:
http://www.thegrch.co.uk/index.htm
http://www.cameronkennedy.com/content/home.asp
http://www.ap-executive.com/
http://www.cw-fr.co.uk/
This is just a few I found after a 5 min google search so I'm not even sure how legit they are.
As I understand, you just give them your CV and they'll contact you if they find an adequate match. Is this accurate? If it's free, why would someone not do this?
But, I'll be starting an MSc at the LSE this October so I'm not sure if I'm gonna need this... we're gonna have a Career Fair, all the banks are coming to campus, etc... so in my case, this might not be useful, I dunno.
These are more for people already in jobs etc when it's not always easy to find/hear about openings....they will be of no help to you in trying to get a role that has structured recruiting (ie exactly the kind of roles you're talking about)
recruiting for summer internships in banks in London is done nearly exclusively via the bank's HR. just apply online. for MM banks and boutiques, you should look at the career intranet of LSE, efinancecareers,... . there might be little downside to go via the sites you indicated but to my knowledge, summer internships go directly via the banks' websites or people that you know in the bank forwarding your CV
